The stone. The center is a lab grown elongated cushion of 3 carats, a soft rectangle with rounded corners and curved sides, longer than it is wide so it draws the eye along the finger. E color sits in the colorless range. VS2 clarity means any inclusions take a loupe to find. Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds, grown above ground with the same hardness, fire and brilliance as mined stones, at a fraction of the price.

The setting. Four prong solitaire on a plain polished band. Nothing competes with the center stone. The band is about 2.3 mm wide and the ring weighs about 4.8 grams in 18K gold. At 18K the metal is 75 percent gold, so the yellow and rose run richer in color. Weight changes a little with size.

Size and fit. Sizes 4 to 9 with the half sizes, in yellow gold, white gold or rose gold. White gold keeps the whole ring bright. Yellow and rose gold put a warm frame around a colorless stone. If the ring is a surprise, measure a ring she already wears on that finger, or message us and we will walk you through it.

Care. Warm water, mild soap and a soft brush under the stone where lotion collects. Keep it away from chlorine and harsh cleaners, store it apart from other pieces, and take it off for heavy work.
